We Live Here – Advocacy Group for Owners Corporations

A close-up, angled shot down a long, dark wood table during a meeting or workshop. In the immediate foreground, a person's hands are in sharp focus; one hand holds a silver pen, taking notes on a yellow legal pad. Further down the left side of the table, three other participants sit in a row, slightly blurred due to a shallow depth of field. Across the table, another person's hands rest near an open spiral notebook. Bright, natural sunlight streams in from a window behind the group, illuminating the tabletop and creating a warm, collaborative atmosphere.

Should All Owners & Committees in Owners Corporations in Victoria Get Involved with We Live Here?

We Live Here (WLH) is an advocacy group launched in December 2016 to give a voice to and protect the rights of owners and residents in apartment buildings run by Owner Corporations.

WLH arose from the long-running Watergate case against short-stays. Until then, residents were the forgotten people in the debate, particularly those living in Class 2 residential buildings not designed for quasi-hotel-style accommodation.

Combustible Cladding and the long-overdue amendments to the Owners Corporation Act (2006) are the other main issues WLH is currently involved in.

We Live Here has a supporter base representing more than 250 buildings throughout the greater Melbourne area and beyond, including some from interstate and overseas and individuals such as architects, lawyers, town planners, academics, councillors, politicians, etc.

Activities include lobbying governments and local councils, creating newsletters, creating columns in the CBD News, Docklands News, and Southbank News, preparing submissions, and much more.

Over 1.6 million people live in an OC in Victoria, which represents over a quarter of the total population, and that figure is only going to get bigger.

It is vital that our voice is heard.

We Live Here is a small not-for-profit organisation that relies on publicly declared donations and community support.
